Apple Announces Annual Developers Conference Set for June 10

Apple has announced that its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will commence on June 10. This highly anticipated event is expected to showcase the company’s latest advancements in artificial intelligence.

The conference, widely regarded as a significant platform for Apple software updates, will run from Monday, June 10 through Friday, June 14. While last year’s WWDC highlighted the unveiling of the Vision Pro mixed reality headset, which became available in stores in February, this year’s focus is anticipated to be on Apple’s AI initiatives.

Reports suggest that Apple is interested in licensing and integrating Google’s Gemini AI engine, which features chatbots and other AI tools, into upcoming iPhones and iOS 18 features. This move could significantly bolster Apple’s presence in the rapidly expanding AI sector, where other tech giants have been making substantial advancements.

Additionally, Apple researchers have recently introduced a family of multimodal models known as MM1. These models are capable of interpreting and generating different types of data simultaneously, such as text and images. A report from these researchers indicates that the new methods offer “superior abilities” and can provide advanced reasoning and in-context learning to respond to text and images.

In a press release on Tuesday, Apple announced that WWDC 2024 will also include updates for software across various devices, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Vision Pro headset.
